Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teen Mentor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting individuals, particularly children and those with disabilities, in their personal and educational growth. This role involves providing guidance, encouragement, and resources to help mentees navigate challenges and achieve their goals. As a Teen Mentor, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive environment that promotes learning and development.


Duties

  • Develop trusting relationships with mentees to encourage open communication and personal growth.

  • Provide support and guidance in areas such as education, social skills, and emotional well-being.

  • Assist mentees in setting realistic goals and developing action plans to achieve them.

  • Facilitate activities that promote skill development, including conflict management and problem-solving exercises.

  • Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to create a supportive network for mentees.

  • Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to help mentees stay on track.

  • Utilize knowledge of special education practices and behavioral health strategies to address individual needs effectively.

  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance mentoring skills and stay informed about best practices in child welfare.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.

  • Background in special education, social work, or related fields is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and child welfare practices.

  • Proven ability to mentor or teach effectively, demonstrating patience and empathy.

  • Excellent conflict management skills with the ability to navigate challenging situations calmly.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
